I have recently bought a MacBook Pro and I would like to know if there are any definative plans from Apple to provide Boot Camp support for Windows 8.

I noticed in the FAQ for version 4.0 of Boot Camp that Windows 8 is not currently supported.   It would be nice to be able to use both the latest versions of Windows and OS.X on the MacBook Pro.    Will an upcoming release of Boot Camp, provide formal support for Windows 8?

Only Apple knows the answer to that questions. They aren't here.

    Thanks for the reply.

I suppose you are right on the need for Apple to provide a formal answer/announcement to the question.

Since posting my question I noticed that the question has been asked by others so I have some more info on the subject along the lines of your reply.   Only Apple will tell if they are ready and willing to say something about it.

In the meantime, I am left with the question of do I bother to wait for a formal announcement from them or go ahead and consider that BootCamp is a technical dead end that stopped with Windows 7.   The silence on the subject from Apple, now that Windows 8 is out and available can only give me the impression that Apple is not too interested in formally supporting it to any significant degree going forward.

I may be mistaken, but it is a simple matter for Apple to provide some visable info on the subject on their website. I have not run across it from a casual look at their website.

You may surmise as you choose.
