Does QuickTime 7.7.2 play movies shot on the iOS devices if they have been updated to iOS 6.0.1?
(The QuickTime for Windows issue isn't mentioned explicitly in the bugfixes described in the release notes for iOS 6.0.1 ... but it might be worth checking.)

Short answer - NO!
Just updated phone to iOS 6.0.1 and then reloaded QuickTime 7.7.2, the latest offerd from the QT/Apple website. Shot a test video, uploaded it, and the problem persists...
Sure hope Apple isn't beginning the Motorola/BlackBerry slide downward... ILove the iPhone otherwise but I want the COMPLETE iPhone/Smartphone that was purchased. Is Apple listening? Wish there was feedback the the problem was being addressed.

Happy viewing everyone!!!!

Quicktime 7.7.3 Still have problems decoding the iPhone 4S videos. I can see picture and sound with the latest QT 7.7.3 BUT in my case, I can see dropping frames in my videos taken with iOS 6.0.1, videos do not play fluid. VLC and WMP play videos smooth without dropping any frames or staggering.
Problem is, I can't edit videos on my video editor (Video Studio X5) because of this. Video Studio use QT codecs for .mov files and I'm just soooo disapointed right now.
One of the main reasons I upgraded to the 4S iphone was because the 1080p video. But right now is USELESS. aghh ....

Having same issues. Updated to 7.7.3 and now get both audio and video, but frames are being dropped. Did "play all frames" and then video plays at half speed. 7.7.3 did not fix the problem.

Guys, you are missing the point of the issue! The "older" videos display and edit just fine. The "newer" videos do not display or edit. In QT 7.6 or not, it doesn't matter if you go back to an earlier version (if you want to edit your video... like I want to do).
The BUG is in the PHONE's latest IOS.
My later videos do not edit or display in Vegas 9. However, they display in VLC, IRfanView, and some say WM player (I haven't tried).
The newer videos play fine in the phone, however. MUST be a codec issue, and I am not very up on this! Our best bet is for someone to stumble onto this thread... Apple apparently will not be of any help here!!!

No paul, I can edit in Premiere with QT 7.6.
You have to uninstall your QT and install the QT 7.6 version and then QT and, well, my premiere pro can now edit even the newer iphone 4S mov files.
Yes my VLC and others play it, but not my editing software...

smor, thanks. A minute after I posted, oddly, Apple Update asked me to install 7.2.3... I did, and everything appears to be working now. ??? Sorry, was too late to post back results. Can edit fine in Vegas as well.

As far as I can tell, the problem is with the transfer of the video. My solution (although I hope it's temporary until Apple can work this out) is to download the video using my dropbox app on the iPhone and then download it from dropbox onto my computer. Video is better quality this way than the youtube work-around solution someone mentioned previously.

IIRC, I was able to successfully convert the "bad" video to .mp4. At least you can view the video this way with excellent quality. You can edit it also, but I think we all know that the more video/photos are re-encoded there is a quality loss. Again, when I upgraded to 7.7.3 my issues vanished. (Upgrade from 7.7.2 PRO >>> 7.7.3 PRO)

Apple you need ti fix this issue now. with QT 7.7.2 I could not watch any video shot with 6.0.1(no video but do have audio) I updated to QT 7.7.3 and I can now see video and audio but there are many dropped frames.
