Q: New Apple iMac 21.5-inch: 2.7GHz & Samsung SSD 840

Hi

Does anyone know if you can install the new Samsung 840 SSD with the new iMac that hasn't been released yet?  If so, would you be replacing it with?

Thank You

MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.4)

An iMac can have both the HD that's included and you can add an external SSD.  Is that correct?  If so, does that go for all Mac's?

Are you able to install an extra drive (SSD) internally if the above is correct on the large desktops?

From my understanding and trying to follow this thread, a fusion drive is needed and this would require both drives to simultaneously work together and couldn't work alone?

    Thank You

You can add external drives to any Mac - SSD or HDD. Mac Pros can have SSDs as may iMacs, MBPs, and MBs.

A Fusion Drive involves an SSD and an HDD. When combined they cannot be used individually. The OS sees just a single device.
