When the Jurassic Park trilogy was released on Blu-ray I used the redemption codes to get my digital copy of each movie on itunes. All was fine. But I went to watch one on an AppleTV just the other day and found that it claimed I had to buy or rent it. I found this to be true for all three of them. It was acting like I'd never bought them. I had formatted my PC a few weeks ago and hadn't gotten around to redownloading much of my cintent yet. So I checked the "Purchsed" section of the itunes store. All three were missing from there. Where have my movies gone and why? More importantly, how do I get them back. I didn't back up the files when I formatted as I planned on simply redownloading them. Nor did I keep the redemption codes. I destroyed them after I had redeemed them. I've not noticed this happening to any of my other movies, just these three. How do I get the fact that I already own them across to the store so it will let me redownload them and stream them to AppleTV?

Cheers.

As far as I am aware digital copies from DVDs/Blu-Rays are one-time only downloads, unlike iTunes purchased films which can be re-downloaded in some countries (and if they are from film studios who have agreed to it).  If you haven't got a backup copy of them and they are still in the store then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download of them (as they were digital copies I'm not sure if they will but you can try) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

But you should backup all of your downloads, as even though you may currently be able re-download them there is no guarantee that they will remain in the store for future re-downloading (content providers occasionally remove them).

I don't know what the rules are in other countries, but in Australia redeemed digital copies are redownloadable. I've redeemed 42 digital copies in this way. They are all listed in the "purcased" section of the iTunes store except for these three. I can stream them all on AppleTV except for these three. If I can't redownload these three then that is extremely disappointing. But it doesn't explain why I can no longer stream them on AppleTV while the other redeemed movies I still can.

It may be the film studio - not all film studios have agreed to allow their films to be re-downloadable.  You could try contacting iTunes support and see what they say

Will do. I must say this has soured my opinion of digital copies. I was all ready to jump ship from my blurays and start buying digital copies instead. But if there is no concrete guarantee that I'll be able to redownload them or more importantly, stream them via AppleTV to my home theatre system at any point I want to in the future then I don't see the point. What if, for arguments sake, you're not using itunes, just AppleTV. So you never download anything, just stream. You've bought a movie for $30AU and then it's removed from the store. What are you supposed to do then?
