Why can't I send emails from my imac?

Recently got verizon fios as my internet provider. Now I am not able to sent email.

I receive email, can delete and trash.

    Sending and receiving email are distinct operations that connect to different servers. It is easy to have a minor mis-configuration give you a problem with one side only.


    If you did not already use it, try the Setup "wizard" in Apple mail. Otherwise, you may be stuck trying to work through Verizon's certifiably awful and annoyingly slow web site looking for help. [I am a FIOS user as well.]
