As an additional bit of info, I just upgraded my newer macbook pro from 10.7.4 to 10.7.5 and now it appears that my battery seems to drain somewhat quicker (maybe 10 - 20 % faster) ... hard to be more definite... but this seems simialr to those who updated older phones fro IOS 5 to IOS 6 and then got a qucker drain also - so I thought it was worth mentioning...

Once the software bugs are resolved, battery life isn't so bad...
LTE / 3G chip could do with an even more efficient chip though in the new 5S though.

I am having the same problems while some people around me are not. I sat here texting and watched my battery drop from 25 to 10 in probably 12 mins or less. What can I do? Should my phone be replaced. I think it's dumb to have to turn everything on your phone off to have some battery life. Kind of defeats the purpose of having an iPhone.

This is definitey some signal bug issue as because my handset tends to drop slower with full signal bar, but once signal starts fluctuate, my batt will drain
At this point of time, there's nothing we can do unless we have a mobile signal tower with us at all times.
So wait patiently for the next update.. Or if not, pray hard that apple will do a one to one exchange for us to a 5s as a form of compensation for our time lost over this 5.

The battery drain is an Apple patented feature.

The thing that confuses me the most is that I updated my iPhone 4 with ios 6 the day it came out (a few days before ip5). The minute it was installed, I could absolutely see that it destroyed battery life on that device. My battery was perfect before ios6. Obviously nothing BUT ios6 caused that to happen on the iPhone 4. What also confuses me is that, I use my iPhone 4 now as an iPod with Wifi. Just like my IPhone 5, the wifi signal is INCREDIBLY unstable. It doesn't drop out completely but the wifi bars constantly drop and then rise. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. NEVER had this problem before ios 6. My iPhone 4 that I'm using as an iPod(no sim/only wifi) is dying at the same rate as my iPhone 5 on cellular. This software has to be interfering with how the phone connects to EVERYTHING. Cellular, wifi, etc. I really think that this is a huge ios6 problem. I don't think the iPhone 5 is as big of a mess and disaster as its appearing to be. I am certainly no expert but there are too many things adding up from when I had the software on mg iPhone 4 for the few days before I got the iPhone 5, when I used my iPhone 4 as a phone. Same exact battery issues, etc.. Connectivity is not right.

For those with high data usage.

Within 30 minutes of upgrading my iPhone 4S to 6.0.1 my battery tanked. My phone turned off at 10% battery which had never done before… Now it is functional below 10% but as soon as it hits 9% it drops so fast that you can barely use it for anything. Why is Apple not responding to 163 pages of complaints about this? The battery life on my phone was amazing before I upgraded and I want my battery life back.

Return them to where you purchased.
Without doing so, Apple won't get the message.

We're all feeling sad and angry, and then sad again... and then angry again.
So as we wait for Apple to step up, why don't we start a competition? The game is to try and drain your battery as fast as you can. Take a picture at 1% charge. The winner is the person with the least amount of usage. Stand-by time is of no importance.

so my errors were dataaccessd errors - seems like some of us are getting different errors which would potentially mean there are different solutions out there. i've been able to replicate a fix, though it may revert depending on the apps you use that error (more on that in a minute).
but - wha'ts worked for me so far is to do a Factory restore via ITUNES, then before restoring from backup (while still connected) set up the phone via the actual iphone (e.g. put in your language preferences, apple id etc) once this is done, then do your restore from backup. immediately go and check the diagnostics and usage and the errors should be mostly gone (there might be a mobile setup log). i've done this now and been able to repeat it. of course last night turning launching 'find my friends' caused the dataaccessd errors to start and the error cycle is what kills my battery (maybe that's a good place to look for the bug apple - in the diagnostics and usage portion of the os)
will be curious if any one else can replicate -- when i've got this fresh restore going and no error logs i've gotten two days on a charge, with the dataccessd error we can only get a few hours out of the phone.
will try this method on the iphone 4's we replaced when we couldn't solve the prob.

I have suggestions from page 100 on this thread.
It's basically to do with your email accounts.
