Linc, thanks for responding. When I have an email open, the customize toolbar is greyed out. I'm looking to add the "move" icon to the top of the window when I have an email open. I did it on my MacBook Pro. I can't remember how I did it and can't find a solution with a google search. Thanks. Matt

Are you sure about that? It shouldn't be. Is it grayed out when the main window is active?

Are you using 10.8 (mountain lion)?
Are you using Mail in Full Screen mode?
If you are, when you open an email (double click) or compose an email, you cannot customise the toolbar in that view. This feature is only avaliable when use Mail as a windowed application or when viewing emails in preview mode.
