Nov 14, 2012 11:08 PM in response to joos8123by applebristol,OK can people please stop posting about leaving the screen covers on, do you really think that after a month of having problems with the iPhone 5, swapping the phone with apple numerous times, taking the phone back to the shop, calling the providers, getting the sim card swapped and testing all the different settings that we then realised that actually all it was was the plastic card still on the front of the phone.
I can't speak for everybody but I found this out within the first few minutes, I can't see that after a month people would have not realised this!

Nov 14, 2012 11:39 PM in response to joos8123by das_ave,You are kidding someone! A phone for 700 or more don't work with screensavers, is accepted to you? After one month with critical network interruptions (not known by my older iPhone 4) and bad robotic voice, i change the phone. This new iPhone 5 works perfekt for me. In addition i use the same bought covers from the defect iPhone 5. Voice quality and network works more better and stabible.

Nov 14, 2012 11:56 PM in response to das_aveby Bart83,Don't think the robotic voice and network interruptions have anything to do with screensavers.
I did a complete reset but didn't help at all. In a few days I will receive a new one, I will let you know the results!

Nov 15, 2012 12:17 AM in response to BORg529by BORg529,I should have clarified, I got my 32gb iPhone 5 , yesterday via UPS, after ordering from AT&T Corperate Store, on November 1. I thought I had to send my iPhone 5 to Apple for warranty exchange because of voice volume issues. I apologize for stating obvious.

Nov 15, 2012 3:34 AM in response to Nicolasbckby Nicolasbck,And it's back again..
How can we rely on such an unreliable iPhone ? I've used blackberry for years and never had a problem. I use iPhone for 3 weeks and I can't understand important calls. And now it will probably go to reparation for several weeks which means I can go change my SIM card again.. if they still have the old ones.
I miss my Blacberry already.

Nov 15, 2012 5:16 AM in response to joos8123by ddw123456,I have exactly the same problem as described at http://iphone5callquality.com
I am heard clearly, incoming voice drops in and out. Not on all calls though, some calls are ok.

Nov 15, 2012 6:12 AM in response to ddw123456by Bart83,What I find very curious is that the person who discribes the problem in the link states that he already tested this on 4 iPhones 5 and that the problem persists on everyone of them.
If he just hasn't had bad luck the problem should be a lot more widespread, and this thread should have more than 18 pages. But this isn't the case, so what is causing this?

Nov 15, 2012 6:22 AM in response to ddw123456by Nicolasbck,That is another problem with calling. It's not the main problem most of the people describe here (robotic voices), but it is also very disturbing. I think this problem is on every iPhone, but most people don't really notice the problem of this. And Apple will for sure not resolve this, unless they can with a software update.
What is funny is that I called Apple a couple of hours ago for the robotic voices problem, and I could barely understand him. Why? Because of that dropping in and out thing. If you have a good working iPhone 5 you better praise yourself.
I would not recommend anyone to buy an iPhone 5. It's full of bugs and troubles. They better test the iPhone 5s a bit better before releasing it.
Seems like Apple has troubles dealing with new technology.

Nov 15, 2012 12:25 PM in response to joos8123by Bugmei,I have just recieved my Iphone5 32g yesterday and I just noticed that the voice quality during a call is poor (sounds like I'm talking to a "can" walkie-talkie, sounds like I'm talking to someone from afar). However, the quality is great if I use the headset that came with it. It's impossible to be using a headset all the time when calling...
Hmmm, should I have it replaced already?

Nov 15, 2012 12:32 PM in response to Bugmeiby Bugmei,ok, so I just removed the plastic film that was placed on the phone when it came (I intentionally left it there since I still have not bought a protective film) and it sounds good now. So mine may just be the screen cover... I wonder if it will sound weird again once I get a screen cover?

Nov 15, 2012 2:35 PM in response to Bugmeiby BORg529,The screen protector for iPhone 5 suppose to have a slot that fits around the speaker for hearing. I never saw it yet, but I thinking my previous touch screen smartphones had screen protectors made for them, with the cutout for hearing speakers.

Nov 15, 2012 6:32 PM in response to joos8123by Freqman,I was surprised my new iPhone 5 yields audio which is muffled, robotic, and/or choppy (cuts in and out)...almost entirely on the incoming (to the phone) audio, and much less often on the outgoing audio. With Verizon's help, I've come to believe my problem might only be when I'm at home (which is I where I've lately been using my new iPhone 5 most often); *some* others in this thread have said the same.
I find it a peculiar coincidence the problem is "worst" when I'm at home. How many others have this coincidence as well? Maybe if we put our heads together we can help, Apple, the carriers, and ourselves figure out why so many of us are having these wickedly annoying challenges.

Nov 15, 2012 11:55 PM in response to joos8123by R_odec,i agree with FREQMAN
Let's try to find out what this problem is.
I heard about some guys in the Netherlands that they have problems with KPN and if they switch sim card to a sim from another provider the problem is solved. (some guys did tests with 5 and more iphone5 phones with different sim cards and always KPN had the problems and other not)
SO
Can everyone post his Country and which operator he is using, that way we can have a clearly view if this is provider related or iphone 5 related.
i think it is not a hardware problem but or a software problem or a sim/provider problem and it has something to do with the HD voice.
I have the robotic problem only at home and for the moment not at other places, I call between 1 and 2 hours a dy and if I come home I have 50% off my calls that sound robotic, at other places I have never problems.
So I'm convinced that it has something to do with the provider.
I live in Belgium and am using BASE
So let start with a list
Country Provider
Belgium BASE
I hope everybody is prepared to fill this in and we get a better view on this...
THX to all for helping.

Nov 16, 2012 12:03 AM in response to R_odecby Phil Baker2,There have been enough postings that describe problems that make it all but certain that there is a problem with the iPhone itself. In addition, I work in Silicon Valley and have spoken with knowledgable insiders within two major Bluetooth companies that are iPhone 5 issues and that Apple is working on fixes to their phones that involve the echo cancellation chip and the Bluetooth software. I recently had my iPhone 5 replaced and there was some improvement, but not entirely.

Nov 16, 2012 12:03 AM in response to R_odecby Bart83,Good idea! But I can't believe it is provider related. Otherwise we would hear much more about this.
The most problems occured when I was at work.
