I have two large I-photo libraries.  I would like to delete one of the library from my computer to free up space.

To trash a Library: drag that entire iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the trash and empty the trash.

Before doing that it might make sense to move it to an external drive first.

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

    1. Quit iPhoto

    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.

    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.

    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

    Regards

    Hi Terence,

I followed your instructions but now when I open my iphoto its empty.  It still shows 1.1gb so I don't think its lost. Can you help?  Thanks.

How did you open the library?  Did you hold down the Option key while launching iPhoto and then choosing the library to open in the next window?
