With further testing, i have disabled Latitude and a lot of other apps that use GPS, but kept location services on.. I AM NOT SHUTTING THEM OFF, THIS IS A FEATURE. I am on 3G only, I have bluetooth off. and I still get the same battery life as if I am using GPS, bluetooth on and streaming audio to a bluetooth receiver..

no matter what, I get 8 hours of standby time.. wether I use the phone a ton, or I use it a little.. battery life is always the same..

unplug at 8am, dead at 5pm..

i could leave it on my desk all day and it would still be dead at 5pm. or I can sit at my desk all day listening to mp3's checking email, checking facebook and it would still die at 5pm.

This phone is junk, my first iPhone and definitely my last. Long time Apple customer with their computers here and even their software quality is going downhill lately.

This is pathetic. Apple needs to awknowledge this issue and primise a fix ASAP.

i should be able to unplug this phone at 8am, and use it throughout the day and plug it in when I go to bed.. not carry the lightening connector around with me all day.

Have you changed any settings? The first screenshot is disgracful for wifi usage. I get about 4 hours with 3G which is still bad. The second screenshot is what Apple say you should be getting and they test their battery usage unfarily so you have got a **** of a improvement!

Did you do anything to see this change? Charged it differently? Anything you can think of?

well,i started using my ipad's outlet charger with my lightning cable(although im not sure that actually helped) but i also noticed that today was the first time i had full bars 3G,the entire day ,while normally it would be 1-2 bars (3max)so that would be my best guess...but anyway this is amazing in terms of change in battery life, more than double actually..

I don't think it's related to signal strength..

at work, I have -67db signal which is pretty **** good.. and I am at 47% remaining after 2 hours 35 minutes usage and 6 hours standby..

i have seen about a 10% improvement in my battery shutting off location services for Passbook and disabling Google Latitude.

but I am still on par to get just over 4 hours usage.. which is the same as ever..

well in any case my battery's improvement today was huge to say the least, might be the charger:p

That explains it. With full bar signal strength, a lot of people are saying that that gives you amazing battery life because with low signal strength your phone is constantly trying to keep it or look for more coverage. Just what Ive heard though. I do know there is a battery counter problem as whenever I restart my phone it jumps up percentages.

i wonder if/how it could be the charger..

i did notice the other day after charging all my my phone all night with the block provided I was at 99% when i unplugged it in the morning.. i havent seen that before or since.. It usually shows 100%

Like I said earlier.. i really don't think it's signal strength related..

I get -67db at work, and basically -50 is about equal to sitting at the base of the tower. Around -80db i say would be about average. And i still get terrible battery life.

using this example from an external site (not sure how accurate it is though)

-50 (perfect, standing next to the tower)

-60 to -70 (extremely good, rare)

    -80 to -85 (normal downtown)

-90 to -95 (getting on the weak side)

-95 to -98 (weak, dropping calls)

-98 to -100 (bad, hard to stay connected)

    -100+ (basically no usable signal)

im actually quite sure its signal strength related.

I have ipad chargers back home so I can test this out soon. Fair enough, my signal fluctuates from 1 to 3 bars. How do you enable the readings? Ive forgotten how to get them up.

how can you explain I have almost as close to perfect signal conditions as possible then and I still have the notorious signal loss issue?
