Nov 15, 2012 12:42 PM in response to ian264by ChrisJ4203,It appears that you have an iPhone that is locked to a carrier other than the one you were using. Nov 15, 2012 12:49 PM in response to ian264by ChrisJ4203,Did your friend complete the unlock process? They need to restore the device in iTunes before the unlock is complete. If the unlock is not complete, your friend will need to contact the carrier to inquire.
