I'm glad your not the designer of the next iPhone... Thicker phone completely goes against the apple design ethos...

This is a battery bug issue that can only be truly resolved by a software update, there are fixes that work for some people detailed elsewhere on this forum.

The android battery issues aren't any better I just came tried an S3 for a few months....

If you want a bigger battery after they eventually issue the battery bug fixes, then you can purchase those horrendous battery packs that attaches itself to the back of the iPhone :). Looks like the bricks from the 1990s.

    Hey Tim Lethbridge,

Thanks for the advice. i thought it'd be something app related too. but i actually think it is the 6.0.1 iOS software. why? because i restored my phone from my last back up, BUT i deleted all my apps, thus, it was a stock as pulling it out of the box brand new. So it only had all the basic apps that the phone comes with, i went to bed to test the battery life, and sure enough, same thing, it goes flat incredibly quick.

i think i'll be going back to the genius bar to discuss this with them. it isn't good enough. i was keen on trying to downgrade to one of the iOS 5 versions, but i don't know how safe that is...

so i think it is something within their 'basic setup' i guess, seeing as it happens when i had none of my added apps...

i don't know i can turn off all the 3G data stuff etc, as then you can't make calls, and it defeats the purpose of having an iPhone...

Any thoughts on downgrading to iOS 5 through http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how_downgrade_back_ios_5?

    Thanks.

bumping the thread and beating the horse.

i'm of course having the same issue.  Brand new 4S, 6 days out of box, upgraded to ios6 first thing after depleting battery and charging to 100%.

    today i started @ 100%,  3 hours, 41 minutes usage 8 hours, 27 minutes standby. 16%...oops now 15%.

all push are turned off, all location settings are off, wifi off.. now 14%.

i installed Carat yesterday, hopefully next week i'll have a better idea of whats eating my phone.  feels like i'm back on my droid, only in a closed box!

    now @ 13%....

Does anybody know when/if apple will come with a solution? Are we saying days, weeks months?

Again: this is NOT a hardware/battery issue. Apple is the ONLY hardware supplier acutally building highly optimized and customized batteries into their devices, wheras other suppliers just put any random battery-pack into their gadgets they get hold of.

And re/ the Samsung Note2: a friend of mine has TWO of them because he has to switch batteries tiwce a day on both of them to get through the day! And this is NORMAL operation... no software bug!

    Same problem here...

My iPad 1st gen running iOS5.1.1 lasts for weeks under the same activity as my iPad 3rd gen running iOS 6, the latter which is now even losing noticeable capacity whilst in sleep mode. Very sad. Same problem's also happening with my iPhone 5 w/iOS6 compared to my 2yr old iPhone 4 w/5.1.1; the latter's battery life is almost double that of the iP5.

iOS6 is shockingly inefficient. Tell 'em at apple.com/feedback.

    Cheers

I waited till the .01 version as i always do with major new releases. So sorry i did upgrade..

Before the update my iPhone 4 could easily run 3 days on a battery.

Now i have to recharge it before the day is over. Absolutely ridiculous.

I turned off obvious things like Bluetooth and location services.

    1% drainage in 10 minutes!

I let the battery drain till screen goes black and recharge this did not help.

It's not a battery issue, it is some power consuming feature that is on somewhere.

Found this article but did not revert to DFU.

I am a Microsoft veteran for 20 years and turned Apple last year, but this sure brings back memories

Isn't there some App available to see WHAT  task is responsible for this leak ?

There is an app called "Carat" that Player8 recommended a few pages back.  I'm giving it a try but am not confident it will spot background operating system processes after reading about it on their webpage.  It looks like it focusese more on specific apps that are battery "hogs".

It helped me locate the following issues:

    - Weather App (Not sure if the standard one or my other one).

    - Siri (I suspect "Raise to Speak").

I also believe this is the result of the 6.0.1 update.  Before the update, I charged my iPhone 4s to 100%, left it overnight w/ everything that I want running left on & it was @ 96% when I woke up the next morning.  I finally, reluctantly, did the 6.0.1 update & now, w/ all of the same criteria above, am losing 20% overnight!!!  I don't know what exactly this update did, but I really wish I had went w/ my gut instinct & NOT gotten it!!!
