I have the same problem with a MacPro 1.1 running Lion so the issue is not only with ML. it only started a few days ago. only happens if I do the quick shut down (CNT OPT COM DEL) shuts down fine from the apple menu

If you have a crash report, please post a brand new question with your specific report.

The various crash reports detailed in this thread include three or four different versions of Mac OS X, two or three that were caused by ill-conceived anti-virus utilities, two or three caused by incompatible hardware, and perhaps two that may be legitimate Apple hardware faults.

Since these are different causes, all require different remedial action.

If you want assistance, please post a new question and you will get it. Tagging on to this old thread will not accomplish a thing.

    Thanks!
