Update: 24 hours after applying iOS 6.0.1, my iphone 5 is still connecting to wifi (with WPA2 AES encryption) very well.

(Previously, it will only connect and show 1-2 pages, after which it starts hanging)

No dropped connections, no paused loading pages, Apple Store works perfectly.

    This update ROCKS.

I have updated to iOS 6.0.1 and still having the same issues on my iphone5.  Connections still randomly drops and starts pulling data from LTE.   Our corporate campus uses WPA2 Enterprise enrcryption.

Someone else out there updated to iOS 6.0.1 and still having issues? Anyone think is hardware issue on selected iphone5. Since some reported iOS 6.0.1 had fixed their issues and some still having problems.

I was having issues with my wifi disconnecting while at home. My connection is a wpa2 personal network mixed network. iPhone 5 that was received on lauched day. I didn't notice the problem right away but only after a few weeks. I first tried typical things that I knew from previous iPhone/iPad issues. Didn't research on here to know if there was an issue. First did the network settings reset. Was ok for about a day. Then did a full restore, didn't make much difference. Then did a restore without a backup. Finally looked it up and went to genius bar, they replaced phone, still having problems. Next day 6.0.1 was released. Still having problems.

Only time I don't have problems is if I turn security off on my router. I do not want to do this because as soon as I do my connection is bogged down. LTE is super slow where I live in the woods so I'm not a big fan of that either. Apple please help!

What was the iOS version on the iphone with you had the apple wifi chip?

what is the iOS version on the new one upon you received the phone?

i just got my phone few days ago, and I have the issue of connecting the wifi @ work. I wonder if I should just go ahead to return it, and get one later when issue is resolved.

    @ htensonaj2119

You appear to be having a different issue than the one this forum discussion covers.  This discussion is about a very specific problem with the iPhone 5 and slow or no data with WPA2 / AES encrypted wifi.

    @pichan

Thid discussion is about a very specific software problem with the iPhone 5 that caused problems with WPA2/AES wifi networks.  iOS update 6.0.1 fixes this issue.

Upgraded to iOS 6.0.1 and still experiencing the same issue : packet loss when using WPA2 AES even if the phone is on top of the WiFi Router. Iphone 4S next to this Iphone 5 doesn't drop any packets when using AES Cypher.

Downgrading to WPA / TKIP fixes this, seems to be a software issue with the way the iphone 5 handles AES encryption.

My mac address starts with 88:53:95 (Apple) and I'm using an Asus AC66U with latest .260 firmware.

    Dear all, and Apple Engineers.

I used to run a troubleshooting BiG Mac site several years ago with 1million hits a month.  I am PhD and scientist  and finding solutions to problems is in my DNA. In fact, I provided jobs to people that eventually became Apple engineers.

I read all the thread here because I also had the same problem this week during my business trip. Each hotel I went to, I had trouble with iPhone 5 WIFI but no issues with my iPad 2 running iOS5. Of course, I had no way to know if the hotels routers were running WPA2 wit AES but I supposed that Hotels like Hyatt, Meridien and Hilton must have. I presume that just like me, you backup up your iPhone 4 before upgrading to iphone5 and that you restored your iPhone 4 settings in your iPhone 5. I am not sure if this is correct or not but it is maybe not a good idea to restore networks settings that were good 2 years ago. This was my hunch. So I try resetting things and firstly, I tried Network Settings Reset. And it worked...EVERYTHING WENT BACK TO NORMAL.

So the SOLUTION to ALL your network connectivity problems with wifi on iPhone 5 is: go to SETTINGS--> GENERAL--> RESET--> RESET NETWORK SETTINGS

    VOILA!

stop returning your iPhone 5 :-) it is working properly.

    have a great week!

    Frank

I knew there had to be a logical resolution. WiFi is being detected, normally, again.

    Sincerely,

    Linda

Serious wifi problems using WPA2 with mine. Even using an Asus RT56U router. Even after getting an AirPort Express. Even using 5GHz. Even on 2.4 GHz. Various different channels. The problem is it drops data flow. Even with Google DNS.

I set it back to WEP and no issues though my thoroughput caps out at 12 MBps downstream intead of 50. This is even after 6.01 which was supposed to fix the WPA2 issues.

This is the only device that has wifi issues on my network. I also have an iPad, DSi XL and 2008 Unibody MacBook.

WPA2/AES remains broken in 6.01. A weekly RESET NETWORK SETTINGS is not feasible.

    Is Apple working on this?

"WifI issues" is not specific enough.  You could simply be experiencing WiFi interference.

This forum is for people who's iPhone 5 will not opperate on WPA2/AES encrypted networks.  The typical symptom is that the phone works great for about a minutes and then data rates drop down to unusable rates.  The phone works fine on WPA, WEP or Open networks.  The 6.0.1 update fixes this specific problem.

I should have been more specific. Its the same on all WiFi networks. It works for a while, then gets slow and after that it drops out on and off. Running iOS 6.0.1 (iPhone 5). If this could be fixed with an update from Apple then i'd rather not play the replacement game like i had to with the iPhone 4S.
