Hi everyone,

I really need some help. so here is the scenario:

I have a macbook pro 17'' late 2011 and i have done the following upgrades:

I have added a 256GB SAMSUNG SSD and i have upgraded 4GB RAM to 16GB. I have put my HDD in cadle i bought (replaced with CD DRIVE) and i put the SSD where i had HDD. So now i want to install WIN8 on my HDD. So when I go through bootcamp assist, i follow the steps which i uploaded the pictures in this discussion, but the result at the end is that, after making my USB a bootable WIN8 to boot from it, it never apears, and it says: put the bootable disk .. so basically its like I havent connect any USB into Mac ...

I have been trying to find a solution for days now but :-(

so ....> SOS

thanks guys

Remove the SSD, put it back after Windows is installed.

I doubt that you will be able to install from a USB stick either (that option was/is for Airs, Mini's and Retina's, as they don't come with a DVD drive), the USB you made contains Windows drivers, not Windows itself, do you have a copy of Windows to install?

I have virtually the exact same configuration, whenever I install Windows I have to pull the HDD Caddy, put the Superdrive back in and run from bootcamp as usual. I have found no other way to install the initial Windows as a dual boot system (Vista or Win7).

My issue is that I picked up the Win8 upgrade and installed it from USB - everything is fine until the system reboots at which point it goes to the standard Window boot problems screen and says it cannot start up Win8 as it cannot find various files, it offers to drop back to Win7 which then starts up fine.

So, my question is having progressed a little futher down the line, any ideas why Win8 is not seeing the files during the boot process. The only thing I can see the base file systems may not be compatible.

Thanks to anyone who cna help.

Windows 8 is not supported by Boot Camp, some have made it work while others have failed. Until Apple starts support and releases drivers for Win 8 there is little you can do (other than keep trying)
