Photos scanned 214 photos and loaded into iphoto.  No problem.  Then copied to second compter and loaded into iphoto.  76 of the photos are totally black.  Sent to trash, emptied trash and reloaded to iphoto with same results.  Both computers are Mac Book Pros 17. Both using OSX 10.8.2  Both using Mountain Lion.  Help?

What exactly was copied to the other computer? How?

I copied 214 pictures that I scanned on computer 1 to a thumb drive.  Downloaded that to computer 2 and then imported those pictures into iphoto.  All the pictures look normal in the folder I copied to computer 2 but in iphoto 76 are black.  When I double click on them in iphoto they open fine but the thummbnails remain black.  On computer 1 they are visable in iphoto.

On the second try I copied the pictures to a SDHC card and copied them to computer 2 and then installed them to iphoto with the same results.

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to rebuild the thumbnails. It can take 3 or 4 goes for this to work

Was the flash drive formatted FAT 32 or 64?  That format handles image data, thumbnails for one, a little different than OS X so the thumbnails may have been lost when transferring. You can prove my theory wrong (or right) by reformatting the flash drive to OS X and try transferring those photos again.
