I want to buy a laptop mainly for downloading/streaming movie and music. I'm worried about viruses but can get a straight answer if macs are indeed the better choice of if I still need antivirus. Some say yes dedicated need antivirus. Some say no. :((

So I want to buy a laptop to burn/stream/download music and movies. I went to apple store/ best buys and future shop. Each seem to give me conflicting stories on whether a Mac book pro was my best choice with regards to virus protection and simplicity to use. I like the Mac but can get a PC for same price with more memory and solid state drive which best buys says is way better than the Mac book. They also say if i get the mac i still need an antivirus installed on the machine. This directly conflicts others who say you do not need anything for It. Im so confused as i want something I won't need to worry about or replace due to viruses or crapy workmanship. Does anyone have problems with downloading/streaming and viruses ?? Or suggestions to make my search easier ?

MacBook Pro, iOS 5
