I have an Apple keyboard that attaches to my ipad with a charging dock. The letter no longer types. Can I pry the key off and see if

something is blocking it? Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Newman Wilkins

Is it a particular letter that won't type?

First test it in another App like Notes.

Sometimes certain letters won't type if you are typing in a field that doesn't allow that character.

I have an Apple keyboard that attaches to my IPad with a charging dock. The letter p no longer types. Any ideas on getting they key to work? What type of tool could I use to remove the key and check underneath?

    Thanks,

The letter p does not type in any program.

Those keyboards are similar to the aluminum USB and wireless keyboards.

I have swapped the keycaps around on an aluminum USB keyboard to make it DVORAK but you need to be carefull as the sissor mechanisms are small and fragile.

I have pulled off the keycaps with my fingernails, or the flat blade screw driver of my Swiss Army Knife.

I'm not finding a current take apart for the new keyboards, but they are similar to these:

You will want to release them from the top clips (top first) then release the bottom (bottom clips are slotted, the keycap slides up and off the very small nubs of the sissor).

Putting it back on, slide the bottom clips in place on the sissor mechanism, then push down to snap the top clips into place.

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for your help. Even when I touch the nub underneath the key it does not work. Guess I'll get a newer model. Appreciate your quick response.
