I exprience this same problem, I believe that it has something to due with the 'simultaneous' 2.4ghz and 5.0ghz N network, for I exprience the problem all over the house, but when I'm close to the AP it seems to be worse. Honestly, I dislike 5.0ghz networks, because one time I changed the name of the 5.0ghz different from the 2.4 to see the difference, and the 5.0ghz might as well be faster, but gets terrible reception (at minimal signal about 10-20 feet from router). And the iPhone 5 has 5.0 and 2.4ghz and it alternates between the 2, but forces the 5.0ghz when possible. So, a suggestion might be to go into your router settings, and if there is any option for a 5.0ghz network, I would recommend disabling it.. If you do not/cannot do that, then I would just wait for and iOS update, it may just be a current glitch.

Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.

    Power cycle the router.

    Does the problem continue?

I didn't mention that, because it did not work for me. For I had done that several times, not only for this issue, but for the issues with iMessage activating for the first time on iPhone 5, it may work for others, but that did not work for me.

Mine drops its connection and switches to 4g. It's running up my data plan. It's not wifi specific as it drops from other wifi networks, not just mine. I downloaded the latest software. No fix.
