Agree with you on all points; I've "skinned" over 9 devices and prefer the protection. As well, better resale value when someone knows it's been skinned since purchase. Also agree on reduction of fingerprints.

I have tried a couple of anti-glare protectors - they have a bit of a 'sparkly' undertone to them; if you can get used to that they are great. I prefer them, myself. My choice of skins is bestskinsever.com. Inexpensive, in comparative terms, and they support a number of devices. I just installed a full-body kit on my iPad 2 and love the way the skin covers all of the back/sides. I even added some very tiny adhesive rubber feet on top of the skin; keeps the iPad in place wherever I set it down.

I certainly wouldn't do without skins on my devices. I'm not the most graceful of individuals, and those skins have saved my devices a few times from a drop on cement and tile floors.

Do you carry sand in the case?  Sounds like you work with sand a lot, especially the dry one.

Buying screen protector is a waste of money. I must have spent over $100 just on screen protectors in the past!  they were worthless, and have problems with bubbles and wrinkles even though they were installed by the Zagg representatives. They are punks and have no manners and don't treat the customers well either. They are low class garbage.

If someone points a gun at me to buy any kind of protective shield for iPad 2 I would get it to cover the BACKSIDE... not the front.

Also, I have removed the Zagg protective shield from my iPod Touch 4 screen.  It hasn't got a single scratch! not even a fine scratch. Completely scratch-free.  I couldn't believe I spent lots of $$$ on protective shields for this device. Un-freakin-believable...

Sounds like the Zagg shield worked exactly as advertised. It prevented scratches on your screen.

You misunderstood what I was saying. I have't got a single scratch since I removed the Zagg shield. This is *after* removal, not before.

Don't waste money on protective shields... unless you gonna apply it on the backside.

I have a 2" scratch on my screen. No idea where it came from. Don't use it as a second base nor use it in any way remotely considered "rough" or in a rough/damaging environment.

Any iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch screens are scratch resistant. I have never had any scratches on any of this devices. Trust me. It is not worse it to spend even $5 on a screen protector and most of them $10-30. If you are using a screen protector you are really limiting your enjoyment of an Apple touch screen technology wich was designed for that.

Even i went to great lengths to protect my ipad 2 screen.

However i did see some minute scratches on the screen after 4 months of rigouros use.

Basically screen protectors are good but they limit your touchpad experience. I removed the screen protector from my iphone because it wasn't allowing proper touch screen interfacing.

So definitely the screen isn't hundred percent scratch proof, yes you can avoid it but not completely.

I have used the smart cover all the time but still i got these scratches so i am really not sure if they can be prevented/avoided

Ya no the iPad isn't scratch resistant, why? Simple my iPad already has a scratch and it's been 2 to 3 weeks, no I'm not throwing my iPad on nails and putting it in a case of sand, I have a sleeve case for it, and I clean it down everyday with my microfiber cloth. And the only time it's ever out of its case is when I'm using for occasional games or notes for my lectures. I've been taking the utmost care of it the second I took it out of the box. The funny part is that I went to the apple store and over heard an employee going on and on about how scratch proof the iPad 2 is and how you can take pins and rub them all over your screen and viola no scratches, thats just utter bs,mi guess you get employed to lie.

They made the iPad not scratch resistant because you already have a scratch?

You mean you think it is not scratch resistant because you lready have a scratch.

Scratch resistant does not mean it cannot be scratched. It simply means it will resist scratching more than "normal" glass.
