I am sick of buying printers that are great for windows but the software was poorly designed for Macs. For example my current printer can scan and sends the document in a PDF to my PC but the only way to scan and send to my mac is if I manully get on my mac and follow a lot of steps.

What printer works best for IOS users?

Thank you in adanvce for your replys!

    Hi,

Do you refer to iOS (iPhone, iPad, etc.) or Mac OS X?

If you refer to Lion, what is your current printer? any of the latest printers shoulf be provided with full feature software which allow direct scanning from the front panel.

allow me to ask you a couple of questions,

    (1) are you planning on printing from your iphone

    (2)                                                         computer (is it windows or mac)

    (3)                                                         ipad

    (4) are you planning on introducing any apple router/switch technology or are you staying with your ISP tech

IOS is the iPhone/iPad operating system, is this what you want or are you really asking about your Mac (which is running some version of OSX)

my concern is along the windows side - would hate to be looking for a great mac printer and then go with a airport base system and completely loose site of my windows environment(s) or where i want to be a year from now.

I have never seen a printer that was OSX only, pick what you want, Windows compatibility will be fine.

These days I prefer Brother printers. They appear to have engineered their printers with OS X compatibility from the start, unlike certain others who appear to have included it as an afterthought.

Brother supports OS X very well with its native CUPS interface, they are inexpensive, their ink (in the case of inkjets) is inexpensive and lasts a long time, their photo quality is at least as good as anyone else's, they have lifetime free technical support with people who understand OS X, and a two year warranty.

If you need iOS compatibility you need an AirPrint printer. Do not consider one unless AirPrint compatibility is specifically indicated.

Read the reviews (Amazon for instance, but be sure to read user reviews on the various manufacturer's websites as well) and decide for yourself.

Brother™ Monochrome Laser Printer and All-in-One models now support AirPrint.

Brother™ Color Inkjet All-in-One units now support AirPrint.

I have no affiliation with Brother or any other printer manufacturer. You would be well advised to avoid purchase recommendations from anyone who is.

I'll second that, and add a nod to Canon for their MP and MX series.
