Add me to the list. 13" retina and no 10.8.2 to update. Cannot update iPhoto too, since it requires 10.8.2.

I have the same issue here - from Manila, Philippines. Just got the 13" MBP retina which comes with 10.8.1. 10.8.2 update is impossible at this point. Although I can still use iPhoto.

Take a deep breath and remember that at some level, there is no difference between Mac and Windows machines.   Both were created and supported by humans who screw up from time to time.   Apple has screwed up the 10.8.2 update and/or the update process.   Forget the update and get on with your work until someone at Apple fixes it.   And for those who are ready to fight for their OS, chill out.  These are enabling tools, not lifelong values.  Sometimes they break.

I absolutely agree with you on that, but Apple should at least give some sort of recognition of the fact that an issue exists. I don´t need to spend hours trying to figure out what I´m doing wrong if the issue is on Apple´s part.

BTW, I actually watched the update disappear in front of my very eyes, while I was reading about the contents of the update:-)

I have the same issue with 13" Retina. I got the 10.8.2 upgrade last Wednesday when I the MacBook was delivered but I had to restore yesterday and since can't get the upgrade..

Same issue here with my brand new MBP 13" Retina. I couldn't find the 10.8.2 upgrade in the App Store so I looked for it on the Apple site - I downloaded it (combo) but I cannot install it... it doesn't work...... VERY BAD!

Same problem here (Madrid, Spain). New MacBook 13" Retina OS X 10.8.1 (12B2100). Mac AppStore doesn't recognise 10.8.2 update.

Brand new MacBook Pro Retina and cannot upgrade from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2.  Feeling very fed up.  There is no explanation as to why.

Siddalloh, It's not that something went wrong, it's that there is no notification of any kind. I wasted a lot of time on this because I picked up a new MBP with Retina display yesterday to replace one from a few weeks ago. Back then, I was able to upgrade from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2 and yesterday I could not and thought I was doing something wrong. Only this morning did I find these Apple Community links. Some message on the main Support page for OS X is warranted.

I just spoke with Apple Care and after a few hours on the phone we found that Apple took down the update for the MacBook Pro Retina 13inch and the new 2012 Mac mini's.  This is becuase they needed to fix some issues found in the 10.8.2 update.  Now the engineers are working on it so it will run better and so it would just work.  They said it would be out soon but didn't give a specific date.

Furthermore I can't even download Mountain Lion from the App Store to make a bootable USB drive from it. It says it is not compatible with my 13" retina MacBook Pro. Really? I'm running Mountion Lion so how can it not be compatible?!?

Exact same problem, but iPhoto is not the only collateral damage.  I needed to install Aperture on my new Mac Mini (running 10.8.1), but the App Store won't let me have it because it has 10.8.2 as a prerequisite.  So I'm starting a project on an older Mac running 10.7.5 with Aperture already installed.  To summarize my experience:

    1. Tried to install Aperture.   Couldn't.

    2. Looked for 10.8.2 update in the App Store.  It didn't appear.

    3. Downloaded the 10.8.2 combo update .dmg file.  The wizard told me that the hard disk was not valid for the installer.

    4. Read a bunch of threads on this forum (there are a half dozen of them).

    5. Called the Apple support hotline.  The person had no prior awareness of this issue.  After some research, he acknowledged a problem with 10.8.2 that caused it to be withdrawn, but could not give an ETA for a fix.  He offered no workarounds for me to get Aperture installed on the Mac in any version.

    6. Gave Macrumors a heads up.

    7. Waiting.

The issue is being resolved by Apple Engineers and will be up and ready for you to download soon.  There really is no reason to reinstall the OS becuase it is being worked on as we speak.  It is saying you not compatible becuase there is no version of Mountain Lion on Apple's Servers for you to download that is for your 13-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro.
