I get that now. The difference between a plain back-up and a complete clone.

Everything, files, system and settings, everything gets copied. So you're really good to go after copying the clone.

Now, another question in this line.

When I've got 2 separated drives inside my MBP. Let's say an SSD as boot drive (ans programs maybe) and an HDD as files storage (a full storage SSD system should cost me too much, I'm just a student )

Is it possible in that set-up to just use TM to back-up everything? Or do I have to make a clone to have everything from the two drives backed up?

    Thanks

TM can backup both drives for you, just keep a clone of the boot drive available (refresh it now and again) for disasters, hard drive replacements etc.

And how does TM select 2 drives at one time to back-up?

TM selects all drives, you can exclude one or both if you choose. Look in TM preferences to check your exclusions.

Okay thanks does it also work with a bootcamp partition?

No, you will need to use Windows tools to backup Windows.

    Okay, so **** happens

I accidently pulled out my power cable and because I didn't noticed my MBP was down for a very little while.

Anyway, I powered him up, again, and my clone copy isn't complete yet, I can see it on the size.

Is it possible to only copy the other files who aren't copied yet, or do I have to start over again?

If it were disk that I was cloning, I would start over again.

Why take chances with something like that?

I mean the clone is for disaster recovery, why compound it with another disaster.

Start the clone again from the beginning, do not disturb this process. (Use the partition you made)  The 2nd clone will go faster because some files are already on the clone, starting it over will ensure that none are missed.

So just repeat the process of cloning with CCC only?

I don't have to repartition my Macintosh HD again?

    Just repeat the cloning.

    It worked

So now I have to test whether my newly made Macintosh HD works like it should work, by restart my MBP on that drive and test it out a bit?

    Is that correct?

Yes.  Reboot into the internal drive.  Test it to your satisfaction before calling it "complete".

I see replies in my email but no posts yet, so just run from the internal for a while until you are sure all is well. Keep the clone for when disaster occurs. Take the time to read the Boot Camp documentation:

Press the button for the instructions.

Same problem with the post here, I can only see them when I've posted something else.

I'll try that, but I suppose it would work as described.

In case it works fine, thanks a lot! I really appreciate the support here, it really rare to have such a great feedback.

Otherwise, still thanks but than you'll hear from me soon.

    Cheers!
