I'm experiencing the same issue. I have a friend who also has the black iphone5 (16gb) but it doesn't affect his. I wonder if its a defect of the screen considering sharp was having issues with the screen.

I have the same problem. I called apple and I had to make an appointment with a genieus. The employee of Apple told me that the iPhone could probably be exchanged.

I wouldn't bother, I've have 3 replacements and there all doing it.
For me it seems to do it more at 60% battery and below after the phone has been woken after at least 15 20 min of sleep.

I had this problem too but I think I've solved it. It was not affecting performance of the phone though.
I suspect is was being caused by the green "Messages" and "Phone" buttons being on the bottom row of my home screen.
I moved the buttons further up the home screen and the problem disappeared.
Saying that, it is practical to have the "Messages" and "Phone" buttons on the bottom row since they are the buttons I use most.
Hope that helps.

Also I believe the screen has a defect and is not software related
