My apple ID does not work for imessage and facetime.

After I downloaded iOS 6 on my ipad 2, my imessage and facetime did not work most of the time. I resulted in continually turning it on and off to get them working sometimes. This worked for a couple of weeks until today when I tried to re-sign into iMessages and it said my apple ID was incorrect. I have tried resetting my ipad and have turned the wifi on and off numerous times. I have also checked my password and email address is correct. Any more advice?
