I also have the same problem.  Nothing wrong with my card.  First get email message yesterday that there was a "problem" with my automatic renewal and that I should correct it chop chop.  I went online and it was already showing set for auto renewal ... then I rentered my same credit card and hoped for thre best.  Tonight I get a new email that my iTunes Match has "expired" and I will be denied access to all 6000+ I took the time to upload over months.

    What up?

If I have to re-upload everything I will be royally p*ssed ... this is just not OK.

By the way, iTunes on my iPhone 4 (iOS 6.0.1) is now broken - it just sits and spins the album art around and around.

    C'mon Apple, this needs attention!

I received the same email yesterday. Maybe at some point this year all my music will match successfully.

I can't wait to see what happens next year. There's nothing I love more than having to go out of my way to make a company take my money.

I had the same problem and recieved this email yesterday..

    Dear iTunes Customer,

You recently received an email informing you that your iTunes Match Subscription could not be auto-renewed. We have resolved the problem and your iTunes Match Subscription has been renewed.

We apologize for the delay with your auto-renewal. If you have any questions, please contact AppleCare at http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/

    ....

Hopefully it's getting fixed for everyone else.

i'm on hold with Apple now ... first fellow that answered indicated he didn't know anything about this problem.

    it gets real old.

No progress.  No response back from phone call.  They had me fill out a trouble ticket at expresslane.apple.com.

I have not received a renewal email. And as of this morning, I am unable to play any songs from my iTunes Match catalog. I can see the playlists and tunes, but they just load and load. I tried turning off iTunes Match and restarting it with no issues, but the songs still don't play.

    Grr...

As of this morning, iTM is working properly on all devices.  Also received nice email from Apple Support apologizing and indicating Apple engineers had fixed the problem for me.

Reading between the lines, it seemed to me that they realize this is a fairly widespread problem but one gets the sense they're fixing it one customer at a time.

I would still like to know what caused this and why failures like this seem to happen periodically with Apple's online services, such as iCloud, iTM, MobileMe, Mail and so on.  My suspicion is that comprehensive enough testing doesn't takes place before rolling out updates.  One can only wonder how will they can continue to roll out many millions more of iPhones, iPads, Macs and so on while catching these kinds of bugs before future updates.

    I take it back.

The renewal charge came through and I'm no longer getting emails and iOS popups saying that my iTM account has "expired".

However, on my iPhone 4 iOS 6.0.1 when I start iTunes the app display just spins album art or album track lists around and around.  This starts to look more and  more like an iOS 6.0.1 bug.  In any case, I still can't play music on my iPhone.

    Unreal.

I am experiencing this issue as well except that I turned off Auto-renew when I first signed up.  Since I wasn't convinced I would like the service why would i want to guarantee them more money in the future?  When I got my renewal notice I attempted to renew.  Since my initial purchase was on the 16 of November, I am past my renewal date.  Technically, iTM should be expired.  It continues to work as it always has, but I cannot renew. I've e-mailed tech support and get the basic of support. "Follow this link", "check this window," etc. but nothing that leads to actual help.

I have a feeling Apple will come out with a resolution that will address this for all of us.  I just hope it does not mean starting all over.

Also, I think it's kind of stupid that this is something you cannot do from an iOS device. I use iTM for my iOS devices, not my computer.  I have plenty of storage on my computer but not so on my iPad/iPhone. It's a shame we are still so tied to the PC.

I'm having the exact same issue as jasgrant. My purchase date was the 15th of November. iTunes Match should have expired by now, but it continues to work. No amount of turning the functionality on and off or logging in or out provides a button to renew.

I've spoken to three people on the phone. And I've had about a dozen back-and-forth emails with two iTunes Support people. No one seems to be able to identify what the problem is and how Apple can take my money.

I've reiterated again and again that my biggest fear is that my 144 GB of music thrown off Match. I will probably go Hulk Smash if this happens.

Here are my last two replies from iTunes Support. Not very comforting.

Nile again with iTunes Store Support. It is good to hear from you. I see that it has not been requested that you re new your subscription to iMatch and you have concerns that once updates are made, you will lose your current library. No problems, I realize that iMatch was designed to avoid my folioing suggestion, however, thing being what they currently are with your account, I would strongly suggest that you back up your library on an exterior hard drive.

This article explains how to create and maintain an up-to-date backup of your library:

Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751

I recommend that you back up your iTunes library as soon as possible and thereafter on a regular basis. I will continue to monitor and watch for updates to the issue you are experiencing. As that information comes in, you will receive notification.

Michael, I want your iTunes experience to be as enjoyable as possible. If you have any further questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to email me again. Have a incredible day!

    Hi again Michael,

This is Sue again from iTunes Store/Mac App Store Support. I just wanted to follow up with you to see if you were able to renew your subscription to iTunes Match successfully, and that you didn't have any new issues you needed help with. If you have any other concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to respond to this email.

Thanks again for choosing the iTunes Store for your digital media needs, and have a great day!

I wound up contacting executive support.  I finally got my problem being looked at by the engineering department (vs a low level iTunes flunky), but no fix yet.  I think those of us with this problem should all contact apple this way, if they get a flood of emails about this it is likely to get fixed sooner.

My subscription is still working (should have expired on the 14th as well).

I actually felt that Apple should have given all us early adopters a free month -- so, in a way, that may actually happen.     I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Halleluiah! I just got the auto-renew email. I guess I "gamed" Apple for 13 extra days and 3 credits (given to me by iTunes rep). And when I go into iTunes, I see the "Cancel Auto-Renew" button now. WOOT!

    Dear Michael,

All your music is in the cloud so you can listen to it anytime, anywhere.

Your entire music collection is available from iCloud on your iOS devices, iTunes, and Apple TV. iTunes Match stores not only your songs purchased on the iTunes Store, but all of the other great music you have acquired over the years, including music from CDs.

This email confirms that you've renewed your 1-Year subscription to iTunes Match for $24.99 on 11/28/12. This subscription will automatically renew each year unless you turn if off no later than 24 hours before the end of your current subscription period. To cancel subsequent automatic renewal of this subscription, sign in to iTunes on your computer and go to your Account Information page.
