My iPhone 5 was working perfectly yesterday. Then I wake up this morning and it is completely dead. I have tried to charge it. I have tired plugging it into iTunes. But it will not come on. It was fully charged last night. Nothing happened to it over night and the only thing I have done with it is sync it to itunes and send some tweets and texts since I got it.

What can I do?!?!

PLEASE HELP?!?!

iOS 6

Just happened to me, exactly as you described and I was panicking! Just tried a hard restart (hold down centre button and lock button) and it's come back on. Phew!!

I have this problem too. I tried a hard restart but that did not work at all.

The hard restart worked (holding down lock + center button) but this was very strange...

Phone was fully charged, and working fine moments before. Has anyone got feedback from Apple on this?

The same thing happened me just this morning. The phone was on last night by the side of the bed, I woke up this morning and it was dead. I thought the battery must have gone flat so I plugged it in to charge it. I left it for about 10 minutes before attempting to turn it on. I could not get it to do anything so I looked on here for the possibility of some advice. I tried the hard restart and it worked!!!!

Thanks for the advice but it doesn't fill me with confidence that it will not happen again.

Do you think it is a hardware or software problem (iOS 6) ?

I have heard of people having problems with the white iPhone 5, that is the one I have 32g

Up until now I have been very happy with it, it is my first ever iPhone.

I will keep my eye on this forum.

The same thing happened to me this morning. I woke up and see the phone (iPhone 5) is kind of dead. Pressed home button, nothing happened, tried to restart, nothing happened, Put it on charge for some time, still nothing happening.

How do you hard reboot? What is this issue?

    Its still kind of dead..

I have the same problem. My iPhone 5 is now 1,5 months old and it happened 2 times already. A hard reset always works, so I think it's a software problem. There are no crash reports of the event. Maybe iOS 6 locks up completely.

Mohhand, to hard restart hold down both the power button and the home button at the same time for about 3 seconds and it should start.

Thanks for the posts guys, my iphone died during the day today and it was on the charger last night.   Not sure exactly what happened, but when I plugged it in, it wouldn't respond either.   I did the reset described here and it came back, but the battery was 99% dead.  Not sure what could have happened to cause the batter to die in 10 hours.

I'm noticing everyone has charged their iphone recently before it dies. I charged my phone to 100% around 5 pm. I text someone around 7:30 pm. I checked to see if I missed the response around 8 pm. My phone was dead. I thought maybe I had it on hotspot and it drained. So I plugged it in and tried to turn it on by holding power and home key for 3 sec. It did nothing.

I came on here and saw the hard reset. Holding the home key then power. Wha la. Yay! Ty guys.

I hope apple resolves this issue soon. :(

Oh I have the iPhone 5, 16g. I got it about 2 weeks ago.

I have had my iPhone 5 for less than a week.  It just died on me just as you described.  Only after reading this article did I try the home + power reset.  It worked, and the phone is working now.  I have absolutely no confidence in this phone.  Anyone find a solution yet?
