    Hello,

iBook 800Mhz don't gives us much to go on here. is this a G3 or a G4 model of iBook?

That will make a real difference in what type of wifi security you can connect to. The G3 models have an Airport card, while the G4 have Airport Extreme cards fitted.

If it's a G3 the likelihood is, your trying to connect to a wifi that has a security encryption of WPA2 and it wont work. It could only connect to WEP or WPA. You can test this by simply turning off the security encryption and your find it will connect fine.

If it's a G4 then it could connect to WPA/WPA2 encryption. This could indicate another software related problem or an IP address allocation problem from the router.

Let us know what model of iBook you have and we will be sure to give you further advise.

Click on the apple logo top right and then click on 'About This Mac'

It will tell you in there what processor, either a 800Mhz G4 or 800Mhz G3

The G4 is also labelled iBook G4 right below the screen.
