A screen grab or details from About this Mac, /Apple menu/About this Mac
A screen grab of your Energy Saver Preferences.
Are you working with an external drive connected, if so what and how is it connected?
Do you have a second monitor connected, if so details.
Does this occur when doing something specific, eg playing back, editing stills, using a specific plug-in or a specific piece of vision.
Has this always happened? If not when did it change, did you install something, software, plugin or update around the time this started?
Have you tried deleting your application preferences and render files? see the utility these guys have developed;
As you can see there are a plethora of questions to ask in the trouble shooting process, let us start with these ones and see how we go,
Hi Tony (same name as mine but then Toon)
no in am working in FCP version 7 (as there is no specific site for this).
my MBP is from mid 2010 and version and OS version 10.6.3,
the problem it is not related to the energy saver. I am working wiht an external drive G-Drive, Fire wire but fed by USB (as i am aften working in Africa and frequent power cut, it is not interesting for me to work with external fitting connection, you understand)
no second monitor (but i I try to connect a second monitor or an beamer-video projector, again all goed black)
in FCP-7 it happened coupld of time just after i did an off-voice entry. It does not always happen ... but happende 3 times in a row when I recording the same short off-voice.
What would it mean to delete the application preferences and render files?
thanks for you support
