Same, new Mac Mini 2.3 i7, wasted some time before finding these various discussions.

It seems to me the biggest fail here on Apple's part is that days after the issue arose and they took down the update, they still are leaving customers (many new to Mac) with no indication why the update doesn't appear or what to do about it.  We're all left searching for solutions when none exist.  The app store should say something.  The "1603" page could at least give some explanation instead of a useless "404 - not found".  And some people seemed to waste hours on the phone with AppleCare whose agents seemed clueless about the issue long after it started.  Very poor communication.

Add me and Mexico City to the list.  I've been a tried and true Mac user for the longest time and, to be honest, this is the first big, big, big problem (not talking about Apple Maps)

Like everyone else here, I fell into this same rabbit hole. Didn't take too long to figure out that the 10.8.2 update was missing, the only really confusing part was how the combo updater that was available wouldn't install.  Was that among the reasons the update were pulled or did Apple work some magic to keep it from installing while they worked on the issue? I was annoyed at my own bad timing I guess more than anything. I bought the Mac Mini to be able to work faster and better with my 20,000+ photo library. I intended to bring the Mac home, update it, purchase Aperture which is supposed to be much better at handling large photo libraries and then spend the weekend importing and futzing with my photos.

What's that they say about the best laid plans?

Well I'm holding out hope that Apple can get something resolved on this before everyone leaves on a Thanksgiving break.  If not, it's not the end of the world for me and I'd rather not think or wish for Apple employees being told to work over the Thanksgiving break on my accord. If they don't get it fixed before then, I'm sure it will be fixed in due time.

    Hi everyone,

Mac Mini i5 bought this week end. Installed my Time Machine back up (with 10.8.2) but it installed 10.8.1 on my Mac Mini.

No way to update either through the Mac App Store or through Apple update website with 10.8.2 Combo.

Can we please stop the "me too" posts?   The issue has been confirmed, but the utility of any support foum is reduced by sharing your frustration this way.   Thanks!

The utility is in attaining additional escalation of this important and high-impact problem.  It's Monday and I still have zero use of Aperture on my new $900 product.  That's a severe lack of utility.  Apple should know how many users are impacted, and how.  I'll post more updates about the things I'm unable to do, as will others.  You don't have to read them, but I hope Apple does.

    Me too.

Apple's engineers seldom peruse these forums. Just too many things going on. Your only options are to File a bug report with Apple, but note that it mostly goes through marketing and sales w(hen it might get to the engineers is anyone's guess) or report this issue directly to Apple's engineering by sending a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. Register as an Apple Developer—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. You'll get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering and you'll be able to track its status.

There is no need to file a bug, Apple are aware of the issue. Likewise Apple are aware of the forum thread, they just choose not to communicate with any of the users facing the issue.

It is just a shame that they don't feel compelled to communicate what is happening. It shouldn't take every user to go through the issue of trying to work out what is wrong and wasting a lot of time, when Apple could instead just own up and manage expectations as to when there will be an update.

It shows a lack of respect for the people who pay for their products. Of course it doesn't have any real consequence for them, because if it did they would do something about it.
