Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

Your Mac mini requires a special OS X version that it's not released yet. Wait until Apple launches this update

    Whew!

I just got off the phone with "Ervin" at support.  He told me the same thing.

I've been wrestling with this problem for 2 days.

    The error message says:

"OS X Update can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements of this update."

So it looks like a hardware problem.  Luckily it is not.

I was getting very frustrated. I had to exchange my first Mac Mini as the HDD crashed... right after all the updates and app loads, but just before I was to do my backup.

So... as we called such episodes in the military: "Real character-building."

Hope this saves someone some otherwise wasted work!

I have the upgrade problem too, but iMovie works on mine. Is only iphoto that looks for 10.8.2. I wonder why iphoto needs 10.8.2 if the computer out of the box has 10.8.1 installed.
