There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:

    - What version of iPhoto.

    - What version of the Operating System.

    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?

    - Did it ever work properly?

    - Are there error messages?

    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.

Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

    I am using

    iPhoto '11 version 9.4.2

    OSX version 10.8.2

What was I doing? Trying to open iTunes to sync my iPhone - instead, iPhoto tries to open and sometimes does, very very slowly with the spinning wheel.

Yes, it always worked properly until I signed up for iCloud (I think that's the timing, but I can't be sure)

    No error messages

I have tried everything recommended by Apple support - nothing has worked.

ANYTHING ELSE: I keep trying to get to the screen in iTunes that shows the actual layout of my iPhone so I can move apps around. I can't get there. When I connect my iPhone to my Mac, iPhoto struggles to open - finally does - then shows my iPhone under "devices" but only wants to sync Photos.

If I connect my iPhone and let iPhoto open, then open iTunes, I see my apps in big blocks but there is no View that will show me the screen layout of the pages on my iPhone, and I see no way to get there.

I'm interested in iPhone NOT opening when I connect my iPhone. That seems as if it would help. But how to get there?

Go into iPhoto's General preference pane and set  the Connecting Camera Opens option to None:

That will prevent iPhoto from opening when your phone is connected to the Mac.

    Do you mean iPhoto??

If so then in the iPhoto preferences set action when a camera is connected to do nothing

If instead it is an iPhone question post in the iPhone forum

Hi, i have iphoto vrsion 9.2.3, library manager version 4.1.4, and library upgrader 8.1  working on an OSX 10.6.8 system

I was simply trying to open it to start work on a rather large project, wouldn't even turn over.

You have no need for library upgrader 8.1 - or any other - you are running the latest version of iPhoto that will work onn your OS

What exactly is happening? What has changed? Any idea why where ever it is started happening?
