    Hi guys,

Checking in with this issue. Base 2012 Mini, HDMI to HDMI. Screen flicker 3x/day with only light usage (HTPC). Will be following these threads.

Just to say that I am watching this forum with great interest even if I do not encounter this problem.

However, I have another one that is no less unpleasant when my monitor is connected via HDMI.

It fails to properly show the light density color, or the color with low opacity setting on a white background. Light colours seem "burned out" and are shown only under the other window's shadow area.

No problem if connected in DVI.

light colors are gone for Mac Mini (late 2012)

Here too, bought the day before yesterday a Mac mini (2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7).

Screen goes black every 3-10 seconds for a very short period. This does not seem to interupt any ongoing process/operation, e.g. movie is playing during the "blackout" and audio outputs normally from optical miniplug to AV receiver.

Extremely annoying, and I haven't found any definite fixes. Somebody talked about some resets with HDMI disconnected. How can I see how to reset anything with my only monitor (HDMI connection to Sony Bravia) is disconnected?

    Any fix, Apple?

Same problem klmorin, Colors seems to be so Burned and brilliant HDMI-HDMI, same monitor/same color sync profile of a MBA Intel HD3000 , seems to be a problem with Intel graphics, maybe a driver update from apple will fix this. I will test my late Mini i7 2.3 today on windows 7 , just to test if the drivers for intel graphics display good quality and discard an HDMI Hardware problem.

Any fix Apple on the next OS X Upgrade?

just to let you all know, at least I tried removing one memory card, black-outs still happen just like before.

It looks like this is an issue that is caused by the Intel HD 4000 and it will need to be fixed with a bios update from the motherboard manufacturer (Apple).

Apparently there is  a work around as noted in the post I link to, which says you can remove one of your sticks or RAM, but I for one will live with the occasional black screen and keep both sticks of RAM in.  Hopefully Apple addresses this issue soon.

    Hi,

I've tried running it only with memory in the lower slot -> still blackouts. Now I have only one 8GB module in the UPPER slot. So far I haven't seen any blackouts (since yesterday). I'll give an update in a few days or if the next blackout occurs.

I'm having the screen blinking issue with new Mac mini, 16gb, Fusion Drive, i7. Connected via HDMI out to Dell monitor. Just blinks black once or twice every so often, maybe once every other hour.

More noticably, I'm getting screen-tearing occasionally, such as when scrolling horizontally in a web application in Safari.

I am having the same issue, random blinking screens and snowy screens also. Apple needs to address this issue ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

See here for a workaround fix for the blown out color.

The replacement I picked up last week also has this issue. First Mac purchase + 2 bad units + so many hours wasted means this will likely be my last Mac purchase. Returning the mini for a refund ASAP.

If this is a ploy by Apple to get me to buy an iMac, they have been successful. I'll go ahead and pick up one of them soon. I'm done waiting for a fix. :P

Apple should immediately stop selling the Mini until this HDMI/HD4000 issue is resolved.  They are counting on most consumers not noticing this until the return period has past, or else, don't care if HDMI works or not.

I think that it is important that we talk to Apple and not about them! From many of the posts here I get the impression that many people may not have logged calls to Apple Care. Whilst I have found this forum very helpful it is clear from my conversations with Apple that people in their front line are unaware of the size of the problem.

It is only people who are prepared to show their frustration by logging calls that will enable Apple to gauge the true extent of the problem!

    Well said!

I did speak to Apple and I was one of those who Apple wished to 'capture' my MM from for investigation.

OK it was a palaver to deauthorize my Adobe apps, erase and install OSX and remove my 16GB upgrade. But if Apple are going to crack this problem they need these 'faulty' machines in their hands to investigate so I was OK with doing it.

If anyone reading these forums has the same problem then do yourself, and all us who have the fault a favor, contact Apple be polite but contact them.
