I have an iPad 2, and it has recently stopped recognizing my 3G SIM card. I've tried resetting the iPad and also changing the SIM card with a new card but without success. Apple Support advised to bring the iPad into a store for potential servicing. Any thoughts or advice on self-help solutions would be appreciated.

I've got the same issue. I'm not completely happy with Apple's response to this..

One rep inserted, and reinserted the chip until it read. It worked until i boarded a plane recently.. then it stopped working. This all commenced 1 month after my warranty expired.

The rep seemed to suggest that i use this as a wifi pad (which i didn't pay for), or pay $250.

    I'm pursuing this further...
