my Macbook is a 7,1 Core2Duo.
It's fine when it awakes from sleep mode for a few minutes, but after that, It'll deteriorate and become laggy.
And when I open up a few normal windows, (chrome, ms word), the icons will "bounce" for at least 10 seconds before opening. That seems really slow.

Have you tried disabling photo stream in system preferences > iCloud - I know that this caused huge lag issues with every pc on my network as it was throttling the entire network, and I was getting a lot of OS lag too; switched it off and back to full speed ahead with everything, so potentially worth a shot?

Try some of the suggestions in my Mac Performance Guide.

I've done it!
My ram and all seem fine.
I even upgraded my flash and divx player.
Today I had chrome open with 4 tabs, 1 streaming music from pandora, one buffering a youtube video. Switching in between windows was excrutiating.
And I don't have anything synced up to iCloud because I have an android phone!
