I received a Nano 7 and when I connect it to the USB, all I get is the little sound that something connected.  Windows 7 (POS) does not read it as plug and play and neither does ITunes.  I have an IPhone and IPOD that connect with no issues.  I have followed the normal troubleshooting....rebooted a dozen times, changed USB ports, changed cables, unplugged everything and still have no luck  I have the most current version of ITunes also.....Can anyone help?  Please?

Does the Nano connect okay with another PC or Mac running iTunes?

Since you state you tried another cable, I'm assuming you have an iPhone 5 since that alway comes with the lighning connector cable.

What have you tried so far in terms of troubleshooting this issue?  Are you plugging the iPod into a high powered USB 2.0 port on the back of your PC? Have you tried a different USB cable?

What happens if you try to reset the device with it still connected to the PC?

    How to reset iPod

Has this iPod ever worked on this PC or is this the first time you have time you have tried connecting it?

Have you carefully worked through each and every single suggestion in this Apple support document?

I have 2.0 USB ports and I've tried plugging it in to all of those but its the new lightening cable so I can't change the cable. (This is the second nano I've tried as I took the original back complaining of the same fault and they gave me a new one).

When I first plugged it in it brought up a blue screen and the laptop shut down and asked if I wanted to restart in safe mode.

I've tried resetting the device, resetting my computer, putting it into disk mode.

This is my first apple product so its the first apple to touch my laptop

I've been through the apple support document and got to "Determine if Windows confuses iPod with a network drive" but my laptop wont let me "Change Drive Letter and Paths", it comes up with an error message wanting me to refresh disk management or restart my computer (which I have done multiple times with no success).

What version of Windows?  Does the iPod still connect okay with another PC or Mac running iTunes? Knowing that information can help us narrow down whether or not the issue is with the Nano or with your PC.

So it appears to be an issue with your laptop running Windows 7.  Any other USB devices connected or that you have previously connected or installed with this laptop such as a printer or wireless mouse?  I ask because they could be causing driver conflicts.

Does the iPod still charge when it is connected?

What if you connect it in Disk Mode?

I haven't connected it to a printer but I have an external hard drive which connects fine but is not currently connected. I've also connected my Sony phone to it but again its not currently connected.

I've tried it in disk mode but nothing changes.

Do you have an Apple Store nearby you could take the laptop and iPod into and have them check it over?
