I've got a 2nd Gen (?) iPod shuffle sat around and I was wondering is it possible for such a device to carry a virus or trojan that could infect my Mac. I've had it given from a family member and used it previously on my Windows machine but never on my Macbook. I'm just wondering is it possible that it could of picked a virus up from Windows to then transfer it.

It is possible it to carry the files that make up a virus/trojan, but the odds are very, very slim, practically none.  Disk Use would have to be enabled on the Shuffle in iTunes on the Windows PC from under the iPod's Summary tab for the files to be able to transfer to the iPod's storage.

And if it did pick up a virus on your Windows machine, it wouldn't affect your Mac in any way as they are two totally different OS architectures.
