I have no texting plan and use Textfreeon my iPhone. My girlfriend has a data plan and uses the standard iPhone Messages app.
Apple's website says "Send free messages to anyone on an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac using Messages with iMessage"
That can be read two ways:
"Send free mesages to anyone [WHO IS] using Messages" (meaning both peoplle must be using Messages)
"Send free mesages to anyone [IF YOU ARE] using Messages" (meaning the people you text can use any texting method)
For texts to be free, do BOTH people have to be using the Messages app, and thus subject to text charges if either party happens not to be on wifi at the time?
