What should the expected battery life be of a 17" MacBook Pro purchased in December 2011.

Between two and seven hours, depending entirely on what you're doing and what settings you've chosen in System Prefs and in your running applications.

Thank you...so if I am running nothing other than Safari and just doing basic browsing and checking emails, should I be concerned that I get around 90 minutes before battery goes into red?

You should get the details regarding charge cycles and Full Charge Capcity and Full Charge Capacity by running the "System Information" applicaiton in the folder "/Applications/Utilities".

Selct the "Hardware > Power" section and post the text like:

ACTUALLY, the computer is supposed to take a nap during the test - otherwise it's not fair.

So after 3 hours, put it to sleep for 3 hours while continuing to count.

Thus, you arrive at the 'up to 7 hours' number.

Everything else is FLASH PLAYER's fault.

you should not be concerned at all.

its all your fault - you don't know how to use the computer.

    here's what you do:

    1. turn the monitor off

    2. turn all software off

    3. turn the wifi off

    4. get a newer $2000 machine - otherwise those Chinese slaves will lose their jobs.
