What type/brand of RAM did you install? Usually your symptoms mean that it is either not seated correctly or you have incompatible or faulty RAM module(s).
FWIW, you did say you have a Mac Pro? (You posted in the iMac forum).

I purchased the RAM through www.ramjet.com I belive the sticker says Transcend on two of them. They are only 2 gig sticks. I installed them as pairs and made sure they are all the right type of RAM. Still, one tray will work alone but when I add the second with the other 4 RAM it gives me the flashing start up light.
They are all DDR 667 FB-DIMM

I installed it as pairs. Each tray works by itself but not when I combine the two trays together.

Nov 21, 2012 7:44 PM in response to JLF_420by babowa,So which model Mac Pro do you have? Model identifier would be ideal.
Have not read of anyone here having Transcend, so i can't comment, but the two most reliable and recommended sellers are OWC (macsales.com) and Crucial. Macs are finicky about their RAM quality.
