It never happened before. Maybe it has to do with installing the new PSE 11 today.

My external editor was PSE 8.

In Pref. Advanced tab, under "use editor" was iPhoto.

So today after installing the new PSE11, I wanted to change the external editor to the new one.

As soon as I clicked "Photoshop Elements", to replace iPhoto under "use editor", iPhoto became non-responsive, froze.

Before that I unchecked MobileMe Sync from showing in the top menu bar. thought maybe it the reason...

iPhoto has already prompted me to repair the library after few forced quits.

MobileMe no longer exists - be sure it is off in the system preferences and the iPhoto preferences

If that does not resolve the problem Back up your iPhoto library, Depress the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library

Go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete any MobileMe account that may be in there.

Yes, that was definitely the wrong approach.  You should have just delete the MMe account in the iPhoto Accounts preference pane.

You can try downloading and reapplying the OS X Lion Update 10.7.5 (Client Combo) and OS X Lion 10.7.5 Supplemental Update updaters and see if that fixes the problem.

Next would be to reinstall iPhoto and lastly, the system.

If your computer came with Lion preinstalled the go to the App Store, log in with the Apple ID you used to purchase your Mac and look in the Previous Purchases section.  There you should be able to download the latest version of iPhoto, 9.4.2
