You're trying to install iWork '06 on Mountain Lion. It's a very old iWork and it couldn't run correctly on Mountain Lion. I recommend you to purchase iWork '09 in the Mac App Store in order to get a full compatibility with the most recent Mac OS X

iWork '06 will update fine straightaway to '09 once it is installed. I just need to get it installed. Anybody have any useful information or tips?
Time has value. You will likely expend $60 of your personal time trying to arm wrestle with iWork '06, when you could have invested that sum in newly purchased Pages, Numbers, and Keynote from the App Store. And, for a fraction of the time investment.

Allow me to backup. I have purchased the iWorks 09 upgrade. But it's not appearing in the "purchases" section of my account, I believe perhaps because they have discontinued iWorks '09 and are now selling them a la carte.
My thinking was that if I could install iWork '06 (which I have done now via a copied disc image) it would update to '09. But it's not working.

The solution was to go onto some download site and find an old iWorks '09 Trial .dmg and grab it and install. Then I simply used my '09 serial number which I was able to find on my iMac '09 install.
Great support Apple - love jumping through these hoops of fire just get my purchased software installed!
