Have you tried going into Settings and checking all of the passwords without being in the mail app? You may need to check all areas where the password goes. If that does not work, then you may need to delete the account and create it again.

Thanks for the response Chris but yes I have tried both of your suggestions multipul times acutally. It's getting really frustrating. :-/

If you have deleted the account and it is still not working, how did you create the account on the iPhone? The gmail app, or Exchange, or some other method?
