I just got a new sim for my old iphone3 and gave the phone to my Daughter. Unbeknown to us it was also (still) connected to my icloud, she has merrily deleted all of my contacts and put her own in... now her contacts are all I have on my phone. This obviously happened instantaneously throuhg the icloud. Please help me recover them.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.0.1

Did you also have it backed up to itunes?

If she deleted them yes. But when was the last time you did a backup in icloud?

You can go to icloud.com and see if your contacts are in there.

Just a side note, i always backup to itunes, then turn on icloud on my phone and do a manual icloud backup so i always have both.

That you actually have to backup is your Computer (you have to sync your computer with iCloud).

Use a backup program/app like Time Machine or Acronis to do this automatically. You will save all your presius data like personal Video and Photos. Those are irreplaceable data unlike music and movies and you always have to backup this kind of data.

About iCloud remember that is designed to sync across devices and for that reason it is NOT a backup.

It's a central data base that you manage from multiple devises (with same iCloud account). When you delete something it deletes from everywhere.

You could always use an app that manually make contacts back up.

    Sorry for my English

Just another side note, i back up my phone once a week to both icloud and itunes, i also back up my computer once every two weeks with my time capsule and my seagate backup drive. The very first backup on the computer takes a long time, after that they are short because it is only backing up new or changed info. Good luck to you in the future. If you have any other issue, let us know, we will be glad to try and help.
