Q: iPhone 5 Bluetooth issues with car

My iPhone 5 is having issues with Bluetooth and my car.  It pairs with no problem and I can make calls with no problem.  If my phone rings and I try to answer it with the car Bluetooth controls the call picks up then immediately goes back to listening to the radio... But the call is still connected and the phone thinks its still connected to "my car".  So I need to quickly pick up the handset and switch the source to phone or the other person will hang up.  If it helps the car is a 2010 Infiniti.   Any ideas?  I already tried re-pairing it.  I also tried resetting the network settings.

Thanks in advance

I have a brand new Mercedes E-Class Cabriolet (I work for Mercedes so I change frequently), the Bluetooth no longer disconnects & will answer but, the time bewern answering the call & it being an open line to being able to hear the other person or them hear you is a good 10-15 seconds which, once you have answered and stopped the ringing seems like an eternity.  I'm guessing older software picks up the dead air and disconnects.

If you folks bought your Iphone 5 within the last 30 days you can do what I did, which is return it and go back to your previous Iphone until Apple fixes this problem.  I bought my phone online but my local Apple store took everything back, including Apple Care and my additional cable.  And the manager let me keep the new earbuds and the plug.  I re-set up my Iphone 4 and upgraded to the new operating sytem (6.0.1) and the bluetooth works fine in my Infiniti G37.  When the fix is made I will buy the Iphone 5 again but I could not deal with not being able to answer calls in my car.  OH, and AT&T did not charge me for going back, and they hadn't charged me to upgrade either because I somehow talked them out of it.

Interestingly enough, I called Apple TS and they told me they never heard of the issue. They told me to call Honda. Honda told me to call Apple...

    DONE!

Reported both problems with iPHone 5 Bluetooth.

    1.  Nissan Titan will not alert when receiving an incoming call.  Miss calls because no alert.  iPhone 3 worked fine.

    2.  Garmin Zumo drops receive and transmit audio 2-5 seconds after answering the phone.  Have to revert to the iPhone itself to talk/listen.  iPhone 3 worked fine.

Well it also is a problem on the my 2012 Buick Regal with intellalink. I can pair it on any other none intellalink GM product and it works great. I have a 2011 Tahoe and even paired in a new 2013 chevy full size. No problems.

The biggest thing I noticed is that when you pair any of the phones on the none intellalink GM vehicles it asked you to enter a 4 digit code like everything else you pair with.

On the Regal it will show you a 4 digit number but once it sees the Iphone 5 it ask you to confirm it. It also changes the code to a longer number. You can't enter any numbers just confirm it.

It is doing what everyone is talking about. I have tried to change the name.. No luck.

I have had a problem pairing an iphone 5  to my bluetooth device. I solved it by plugging my iphone into my pc, and going through itunes, renaming my phone. I did have an iphone 4, and the new phone still used the iphone 4 name. once i renamed it, bingo, bluetooth is now working. might not fix everybodies problem, but a simple exercise to try

I have a 2011 Infiniti M37X and Iphone 5 ALWAYS disconnects when call comes in.  Most times I can dig the phone out of my pocket (unsafe) and catch the call on the phone, but sometimes it just drops the call.  Took car to Infiniti and was told this is a known problem and Infiniti has no solution. They said may other vehicle brands have this problem and Apple just ignores it. Unfortunately I am beyond 30 day return period, so I am stuck.  Now I just drive with the phone in the cupholder.  On longer drives I take a Motorola bluetooth speaker device I own.  I have been trying to let everyone I know considering an Iphone to take this into consideration and with buy an older Iphone or a Galaxy III (I know both work).

I spent an hour and a half on the phone with a senior tech from Apple. Because I am fairly tech savvy, and a Mac user since 1985, he had me run a battery of scenarios to try to get the bluetooth to work on in-coming calls hands-free. Nothing worked.

The issue: cannot answer in-coming hands free calls in my car. I can use the voice commands to make calls, but I cannot receive calls unless I pick up my iPhone and answer manually.

This call was made two weeks ago and Steven, the senior tech, said Apple is aware of the problem and that it is probably a firmware issue that would probably be resolved in a few days. Not the case!
