It never happened before. Maybe it has to do with installing the new PSE 11 today.

My external editor was PSE 8.

In Pref. Advanced tab, under "use editor" was iPhoto.

So today after installing the new PSE11, I wanted to change the external editor to the new one.

As soon as I clicked "Photoshop Elements", to replace iPhoto under "use editor", iPhoto became non-responsive, froze.

Before that I unchecked MobileMe Sync from showing in the top menu bar. thought maybe it the reason...

iPhoto has already prompted me to repair the library after few forced quits.

MobileMe no longer exists - be sure it is off in the system preferences and the iPhoto preferences

If that does not resolve the problem Back up your iPhoto library, Depress the option (alt) and command keys and launch iPhoto - rebuild your iPhoto library

Go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete any MobileMe account that may be in there.

I deleted everything associated with MobileMe. Probably too much, and now I got a new problem.

Now I can't even open iPhoto.

I used EasyFind applic. to search for anything with MobileMe in it. Found quite a lot, deleted, and some of the files were needed for iPhoto, but I didn't realize.

I decided to install Mountain Lion, hoping it will fix everything. It didn't.

Command+Option keys to rebuild the library, don't work now either.

I had iPhoto'11, but for some reason the report mentions an earlier version 9.4.2

Wanted to re-install iPhoto'11 from Appstore, but in the purchases it's not listed.

Re-install would probably fix the problem.

Here is what I get when trying to open iPhoto:

iPhoto can not be opened because of the problem. Check with the developer to make sure iPhoto works with this version of OSX. You may need to reinstall the applic. Be sure to install any available updates for the applic. and OSX.

Here is part from it, and that I remember deleting something like that and also some images of MobileMe, then used Onyx to cleanup:

Yes, that was definitely the wrong approach.  You should have just delete the MMe account in the iPhoto Accounts preference pane.

You can try downloading and reapplying the OS X Lion Update 10.7.5 (Client Combo) and OS X Lion 10.7.5 Supplemental Update updaters and see if that fixes the problem.

Next would be to reinstall iPhoto and lastly, the system.

I installed Mountain Lion today. But it didn't help.

How to re-install iPhoto from AppStore ?

    Clicking "installed" doesn't do anything.

To have .dmg file would be the best, but Apple doesn't provide it now.

If your computer came with Lion preinstalled the go to the App Store, log in with the Apple ID you used to purchase your Mac and look in the Previous Purchases section.  There you should be able to download the latest version of iPhoto, 9.4.2

  • 7. Re: iPhoto freezes when changing editor in Pref.

I had Leopard,Snow Leop., then Lion and yesterday installed Mountain Lion.

I couldn't understand why I can't re-download iPhoto again. The purchased page has all applications marked "installed", and there is no way to redownload. I think it's because when I purchased iPhoto '11 I lived in Canada, but now I'm back in Israel. My AppStore acc. still has canadian payment information.

Now when I wanted to change the country in AppStore, nothing happened, canadian flag is still there. But I can update all installed applications.

What exactly should say on a purchased applic. page, if you want to re-install something ?

I figured out now how to change country in appstore. I did it in iTunes and then in appstore.

so now all my purchases made in Canada are no show in Israeli appstore, including iPhoto '11.

I guess now I have to contact appstore support to let me re-download iPhoto..

Thanks for replies, I hope the re-installation on Mountain Lion should help.

    if not, then back here..
