Is it not logical to check for any software issue, since this problem started right after updating the OS.
I am not able to connect to the internet because "No airport card found"
You are certainly free to "attack" troubleshooting from any angle that you feel is most appropriate. I prefer (& have recommended) that you rule out any hardware issues first. Once verified, I would step next to troubleshooting software.
