I have been given my inlaws Imac Intel 4,1 which runs OS X 10.6.8. I would like to reinstall the OS X in order to start from fresh and remove all of my inlaws data, which they have already transferred onto a new iMac. I would be grateful for any advice on how to do perform this task.

Thanks.

Use a Mac OS X install DVD or the computer's original disks to erase the drive and install a new OS.

Because it's incompatible with Mountain Lion, and if it's an iMac4,1, a Core Duo incompatible with Lion.
