Nope I should of and meant to but never bothered.
It never had that much personal stuff on it but I just want it back you.
If they erase it and use it again (I have the serial) can it be tracked?
Thanks for your help.

If you don't know your lost/stolen iPad's serial number, use the instructions below. The S/N is also on the iPad's box.

I know i am repeating myself ut its 100% the police or apple cant trace it?
They might be able to, but with all the iPads and Apple accounts, it's literally like trying to find a needle in a haystack using x-ray vision.
Does your homeowner insurance cover such devices? Perhaps you can talk to them and see if you are covered for some of the cost.
On the next device, set up Find my IPad FIRST THING! Good luck, mate!

To answer your question, unfortunately no, your iPad can not be tracked by the serial number by the police, the only thing that I can think of is to take the number to Apple and see if it is in their database for AppleCare. For all devices that are registered with AppleCare, the serial number is documented for warranty purposes. If the theirs bought AppleCare on the iPad they stole, you may be able to somehow retrieve it.
Hope you find it!
