If you enabled Find My iPod on it before it was lost, and if it is on, has a connection to the internect and you settings haven't been changed, you can go to icloud.com, log into your iCloud account and track it, send a message and/or remotely lock or erase it. Call Virgin and ask for their baggage service office in Brisbane. If they do not have it, they could tell you what other Virgin office might.
If it is in "airplane mode" then Find My iPad will not work.
